Jeffrey P. Gellermann

Jeffrey P. Gellermann (JP) is the Extension Director and newly-appointed Extension Sea Grant Agent for the University of Florida/IFAS Extension in Martin County.  He develops educational programs focusing on the health and wellbeing of coastal waters specifically the Indian River Lagoon.   JP is a Florida native, and has earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Criminology.  He has worked for the University of Florida since 2005 and earned University tenure in 2010.   During that time he has worked in multiple program areas including:  Growth Management, Community Development, Administration, Efficient Communities, Sea Grant and 4H Youth Development.  Jp performs leadership roles for both his local community and for the University of Florida/IFAS.   In addition, he is an alumnus of the 2006 Class VI of the Florida Natural Resources Leadership Institute and is a Class 1 Home Energy Rater.

Tanya Darress is the Extension Agent I for 4-H Youth Development. She brings a background of knowledge in farm, domestic, marine, and wildlife animals that began as a Treasure Coast 4-H Youth member, youth member of Future Farmers of America (FFA), and past role as a 4-H Leader.  She attended St. Petersburg College in Florida and attained a Veterinary Technology Associate in Science Degree (VETTC-AS). She has a diverse background in veterinary science as a veterinary technician through her past work experiences at University of Florida’s Horse Research Farm and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.

 A true GATOR and proud graduate of University of Florida, she achieved a Bachelor Degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, with a minor in Education. She is also a certified teacher through the Florida Department of Education in Secondary Biology. She looks forward to enhance the educational needs for 4-H youth members and county residents, facilitating partnerships with potential outreach workshops for the purpose of education, recruitment, and securing private financial resources.  

 

 

 

Britton Wilson

Britton Wilson is a Florida native from the Tampa Bay area and has been living in South Florida for the past 15 years. She came to the Treasure Coast in 2008 by way of Miami-Dade. Prior to that she lived in Gainesville where she obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Horticulture and a Masters of Art in Urban and Regional Planning, both from the University of Florida. After graduating she moved to Homestead where she worked in resource management for the National Park Service and then moved on to working for Miami-Dade County as the coordinator for Agricultural Practices Advisory Board.  

As a horticulturist and certified city planner, Britton is focused on the support of our natural resources through implementation of the Florida-Friendly Landscaping program.

Yvette Goodiel began working with Martin County in December 2011 as the Martin County Sustainability and Commercial Horticulture Extension Agent and Master Gardener Coordinator.  Yvette provides educational programming to fertilizer and pesticide applicators and assists commercial growers, landscapers, and others in finding the answers to their horticultural questions.  She trains and coordinates the Martin County Master Gardeners, a group of approximately 100 volunteers who offer gardening information and educational programs to the public.  Yvette received a Master’s degree from the University of Kansas and graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor’s degree.  Her prior experience includes environmental planning, teaching, grant-writing, and volunteer coordination.  Yvette is also interested in local and organic vegetable production; she has taken coursework in organic certification, practiced growing organic vegetables, and volunteered at a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm.

Jennifer Buntin is the new Family Nutrition Program (FNP) Coordinator for Martin & St Lucie Counties. Jenny will be managing three program assistants at the regional FNP office who teach proper nutrition to school aged children and adults. 

Jenny has her Masters in Health Education from Auburn University.  She has a Chiropractic degree from Life University.  She enjoys her job teaching health/ nutrition education and has been working with FNP- Family Nutrition Program at the University of Florida for the past 9 years.

She believes healthy eating is a mind-set. We can teach people into adopting a healthy eating pattern and by doing this we are making a huge impact on their lives.
