Garden Descriptions

Memorial Garden for John & Helen Gray at the Stuart Middle School maintained by Master Gardener, Peggy Sargeant.

Hobe Sound Boys & Girls Club

Martin County Master Gardener, Jenny Banks, has facilitated a kids' garden at the Hobe Sound Boys and Girls Club. They have built raised bed gardens, with the help of the Boy Scouts and are now harvesting the first of their fall vegetable crop!

SeaWind Elementary Tree Project

Five oak trees were planted at SeaWind in August of 2013. They were very pot bound, with circling roots, and a huge challenge to plant in extremely hot weather. Today they doing well.

Gardening at Felix J. Williams Elementary

Melanie Dunnuck, 2013 MCMG graduate, brings to the group her love of gardening with youth.  She is the inspiration, drive, and continued energy behind the Felix A. Williams Elementary school garden, where she works with the teachers and parents to teach youth about gardening, where vegetables come from, bees, and more.  On a recent visit, Melanie shucked an ear of corn for the students to see and smell, showed a class their growing pumpkins, and advised a teacher on her home garden, all in the space of about 15 minutes!  Thanks to Melanie and all of our school gardening MG volunteers, for reaching out to youth in our community
